Former Square Enix employee arrested on suspicion of insider trading

Tokyo prosecutors have arrested a former employee of Tokyo-based game maker Square Enix on suspicion of insider trading. The company is known for its popular Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy series.

Sazaki Taisuke was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act. His acquaintance Suzuki Fumiaki was also arrested.

The prosecutors say the two men learned that Square Enix was developing a new game with a Tokyo-based game production company and bought a total of around 340,000 dollars' worth of the production company's shares.

The prosecutors suspect Sazaki of telling Suzuki about the joint development to make a profit.

The prosecutors have not disclosed whether the two have admitted to the charges.
