US research group: N.Korea possibly preparing for new submarine launch

US research group 38 North says its analysis of satellite imagery of a shipyard in North Korea suggests that the country is preparing to launch a new ballistic missile submarine.

38 North has released online its analysis of the images taken this Sunday of several vessels at a shipyard in Sinpho, South Hamgyong Province.

The group says that while barges and a dry dock have occasionally been seen around the shipyard's submarine launch quay, the presence of six barges and other vessels in the area had never been observed.

38 North also says that "an apparent tow fixture on the launch quay...could be used to ensure the barges tow the submarine out."
