FIFA World Cup host Qatar has announced an entry restriction on visitors apparently to ensure the event runs smoothly.
The Qatari government said on Wednesday that it will introduce the measure from November 1 to December 22. The soccer event will start on November 20.
During the period, the nation will allow entry by Qatari nationals, foreign nationals who reside in the country and those who have a ticket for World Cup matches. Business travelers and tourists will not be permitted.
The decision comes as government officials work to respond to concerns over a possible accommodation shortage and traffic congestion during the event.
