Storm affecting mobile phone service in parts of Japan

Mobile phone services are being disrupted in parts of southwestern and western Japan on Monday due to Severe Tropical Storm Nanmadol.

NTT Docomo said in the afternoon that its services had been affected in parts of Hiroshima, Okayama, Yamaguchi, Ehime, Kochi, Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures.

KDDI, the operator of the au service, said that as of 6 p.m. its mobile phone communications had been affected in parts of Ehime, Tokushima, Kochi, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures.

Softbank said that as of 3 p.m. its services had been affected in parts of Yamaguchi, Tokushima, Ehime, Kagawa, Kochi, Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures.

Rakuten Mobile said that as of 5 p.m. its customers were having problems in parts of Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures.

The service providers are working to restore the services and plan to provide the latest information on their websites.
