Typhoon may halt Shinkansen bullet train service on Sunday and Monday

The Japan Railways Group says some bullet train services may be suspended on Sunday and Monday due to a powerful typhoon.

As of Saturday midnight, the operator of the Kyushu Shinkansen said it decided to suspend service between Kumamoto and Kagoshima Chuo all day on Sunday. It said it will suspend service between Hakata and Kumamoto from around noon.

Other operators say the Sanyo Shinkansen may halt service between Hiroshima and Hakata from the morning, and the Tokaido Shinkansen may have limited runs from Monday evening.
