A US research institute says North Korea retains its readiness to conduct a test of a submarine-launched ballistic missile at any time.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies on Thursday released its analysis of satellite images of a shipyard in Sinpho in South Hamgyong Province.
The center says the images taken on Monday show a submersible missile test stand barge. It is believed to have been used in repeated SLBM tests off the coast of Sinpho.
The center says, "North Korea maintains the capability to undertake" missile tests at any time, although "no significant activity is observed to indicate imminent preparations for the launching."
Pyongyang has unveiled what appear to be new SLBMs at military parades since 2020.
The South Korean military said in May that North Korea fired what appeared to be an SLBM from a submarine off the coast of Sinpho into the Sea of Japan.
