Nishimura to express Japan's support for Ukraine economy

Trade ministers from the Group of Seven nations are expected to discuss Ukraine's economic recovery in a meeting that will begin in Germany on Wednesday.

Japan's Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi is set to express the country's intention to support restoration of Ukraine infrastructure damaged by Russia's invasion.
These include bridges and electric power facilities.

The Japanese government is expected to call for participation of Japanese firms and to survey local needs.

The government is considering offering low-interest yen loans to the government of Ukraine and to use grants from the Japan International Cooperation Agency to fund restoration projects.
The government also plans to set up a Japan External Trade Organization team to help expand Ukraine's exports.
The group will introduce Japanese businesses to Ukrainian firms that are trying to export goods.

The government also plans to make it possible for Ukrainian firms to take part in trade fairs that JETRO holds in Japan and abroad.
