Leading Japanese truck maker Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus has launched a line of EV models with three different battery type options. This is the latest development in Japan's increasingly competitive EV truck sector.
Mitsubishi Fuso unveiled a new lineup of light-duty EV trucks that will go on sale next spring.
The firm says models with 80, 140, and 200-kilometer charge ranges will be available.
Mitsubishi Fuso says that by offering a wide variety of mileage and price options, it will help the logistics industry become more energy efficient.
"The next step is to build an extensive infrastructure with lots of charging stations," said Ando Hironobu, the firm's Head of Product Engineering. "We have to work with many industries to achieve a carbon neutral society."
Competition in the EV truck sector is heating up in Japan. Hino Motors launched a lineup of models that can travel 150 kilometers on a single charge in June. Isuzu Motors plans to put its first EV models on sale by the end of this fiscal year.
