UAE to issue tourist visas to Qatar Soccer World Cup ticket holders

The United Arab Emirates says it will issue tourist visas to people holding tickets to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will kick off in November in neighboring Qatar.

The UAE said in a statement on Wednesday that the multiple-entry visas will be valid for 90 days.

Qatar aims to attract 1.2 million spectators, equivalent to nearly half of its population. But local people are voicing concern about a possible shortage of accommodation facilities.

The UAE is apparently trying to lure overseas soccer fans by promoting its accessibility to the venues and hotel facilities.

Saudi Arabia has also announced a plan to grant tourist visas to foreigners who have World Cup tickets.
