Russia's Lavrov in Iran to discuss cooperation, nuclear deal

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran on Wednesday.

Russia's Foreign Ministry says Lavrov told Raisi in his opening remarks that Russian President Vladimir Putin holds daily meetings on adapting his country's economic and social fields to the realities emerging in the wake of what he called the West's selfish and aggressive policies.

Lavrov said all countries "experiencing the negative influence of the selfish line taken by the United States and its satellites" need to "reconfigure their economic relations so they can avoid relying on the whims and vagaries of our Western partners."

The Russian Foreign Ministry says Lavrov is scheduled to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the Iran nuclear deal with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during his two-day visit.
