Tokyo Games organizers call for lessons to be shared

The organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics has reported on the achievements and agenda of the 2020 Games and hope to promote the lessons learned in Tokyo.

The committee submitted its official report on the Games to an executive board meeting in Tokyo, on Tuesday.

The report says the "Tokyo Model" for operating the Games should be used for sporting events from now on.

Specifically, the report lists know-how earned operating the Games amid the pandemic and severe summer heat. It also notes reforms that accommodate changing times, such as the introduction of urban sports and online viewing of competitions. Simplifying the Games and curtailing costs are also on the list.

The report also says there is a need to constantly study what the Olympics and Paralympics should stand for, and how they should operate in society.

The committee already submitted the report to the International Olympic Committee in early June.
