A Sikh facility in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, has been attacked, leaving two dead and seven wounded.
A group of militants assaulted the facility on Saturday morning. A gun battle erupted with Taliban forces on security watch there.
Many Sikhs were inside the site for morning prayers. One worshipper and one Taliban fighter were killed.
A Taliban interior ministry spokesperson told reporters that the attackers had thrown a hand grenade into the facility. They had also attempted to set off a car bomb but that was thwarted by Taliban forces.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
In March 2020, Islamic State militants attacked another Sikh facility in Kabul, leaving 25 people dead.
