Zelenskyy: Painful losses in Severodonetsk, more anti-missile weapons needed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukrainian and Russian forces are still battling fiercely in the eastern city of Severodonetsk and nearby areas.

Zelenskyy provided updates on the fighting in a video message released on Tuesday.

He mentioned the situation in the Donbas region, where Russia is trying to take full control. He said that the Ukrainian forces are suffering painful losses in the area.

The president said, "It is vital to hold on there, in Donbas. The more losses the enemy suffers there, the less power they will have to continue the aggression." He said the fighting in Donbas will determine which side dominates in the coming weeks.

The president also said Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down some Russian missiles.

Zelenskyy again called on supporting countries to quickly deliver modern anti-missile weapons. He said there is no justification for a delay.
