Zelenskyy: Russia using conscripts as 'cannon fodder' for advantage in numbers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russian forces are using their conscripts simply to gain a numerical advantage in the fighting.

In a video released on Sunday, Zelenskyy said, "The Russian army is trying to deploy reserve forces in Donbas."

He also said, "It seems that they will try to throw into battle poorly trained conscripts and those who were gathered by covert mobilization."

The president went on to say, "Russian generals see their people simply as the cannon fodder they need to gain an advantage in numbers -- in manpower, in military equipment."

Zelenskyy also said fierce fighting continues in the city of Severodonetsk in eastern Ukraine.

He said Russian forces are also pressing in the direction of other cities, including Lysychansk and Slovyansk.
