UN: 4,253 civilians killed in Ukraine since Russia's invasion started

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says at least 4,253 civilians have been killed as of Monday in Ukraine since Russia's invasion began. That includes 272 children.

The office said on Tuesday it confirmed 2,455 deaths in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions and 1,798 fatalities in other parts of the country, including the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions.

The office also says 5,141 civilians were injured during the period.

The office adds that it believes "the actual figures are considerably higher" because it's still working to confirm reports from the eastern city of Mariupol and other locations where intense fighting took place.
