Uniqlo says raw material cost will force price hike

The Japanese operator of the Uniqlo brand says it can no longer absorb the rising costs of raw materials and distribution and will raise its prices up for the fall-winter season.

Fast Retailing has not said how many items will be affected, but says it will add as much as 1,000 yen to the price of some popular items.

Uniqlo's Heattech innerwear will be affected, as will fleece and down jackets.

The company says the war in Ukraine is one of the factors driving up its costs, along with the lingering effects of the pandemic.
