MLB: Los Angeles Angels sack manager amid losing streak

In Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Angels have fired manager Joe Maddon amid a 12-game losing streak.

The Angels made the announcement on Tuesday. The team is home to Japanese two-way star Ohtani Shohei.

The Angels had a strong start to the season but Maddon was relieved of his duties following the team's substandard performance.

Maddon began his latest stint as the Angel's manager in 2020.

Phil Nevin, who had been the third-base coach, was named interim manager.
