Japan's struggling Toshiba has another potential headache on its hands.
One of its external directors is objecting to the nominations of two activist hedge-fund members to the company's board.
The two are on a list of 13 nominees released on Monday. They would serve as outside directors.
The opposing board member is lawyer Watahiki Mariko. She says the board already has activist investors serving on it, and that adding more could damage its impartiality.
It is rare for a board member to make a public objection to a company proposal. The list will be submitted to a shareholders meeting on June 28th.
Toshiba's management and its shareholders have been locked in several battles in recent years concerning the company's fate.
