US imposes raft of sanctions against Russia, Belarus

Officials in the Biden administration imposed more sanctions on Thursday on the Russians and their allies. They added 71 parties in Russia and Belarus to a trade blacklist.

The officials froze the assets of the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova. They imposed the same penalties on Sergei Roldugin, a cellist with close ties to President Vladimir Putin. They believe Roldugin helps to manage Putin's offshore wealth.
