Shibahara and Koolhof win French Open mixed doubles title

Japan's Shibahara Ena and Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands have won the French Open mixed doubles title.

The pair beat Norway's Ulrikke Eikeri and Joran Vliegen of Belgium in straight sets in the final on Thursday.

Shibahara and Koolhof took the first set 7-6 after a tough battle. They dominated the second set and clinched it 6-2.

It is the first time that a Japanese player has won the mixed doubles championship at the French Open since Hiraki Rika teamed with India's Mahesh Bhupathi in 1997.

The French Open is one of the four major tennis tournaments. The other three majors are the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
