NATO allies predict enduring conflict

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hosted NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday in Washington. They discussed the war in Ukraine and agreed the conflict would last "many months."

Blinken addressed Russian criticism of a US aid package which includes advanced rocket systems. He said the Ukrainians need such support to defend themselves.

Stoltenberg provided an update on bids by Sweden and Finland to join the alliance he leads. Their applications have run into opposition from Turkish leaders.

Stoltenberg said he would meet with delegates from all three countries. He said he wants to end the standoff before NATO leaders meet later this month at a summit in Madrid.
