Tokyo reports 5 new COVID cases, no deaths

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported five new cases of coronavirus infection in the capital on Wednesday, the lowest this year.

The figure fell by 22 from a week ago.

The daily tally has remained below 50 for 39 straight days. It has been under 30 for 13 days in a row.

The seven-day average through Wednesday stands at 14.3, or 67.8 percent of the figure for the previous week.

Tokyo officials said eight people are in serious condition, unchanged from Tuesday. They said there were no deaths.
