A company linked to Myanmar's army has filed a court petition to liquidate a brewery run as a joint venture with major Japanese beer maker Kirin Holdings.
Myanma Economic Holdings Limited published the announcement in a state-run newspaper on Monday.
The conglomerate manages a welfare fund for the military.
Kirin has been negotiating dissolution of the joint venture with the company since February, following the military coup.
The announcement says a local court will hear MEHL's petition. Kirin says it will confirm the details.
Kirin faces an uncertain future for its operations in Myanmar. While it is aiming to dissolve its partnership with the military-connected company, Kirin wants to keep doing business in the country. The drinks giant might be forced to change its plans depending on how the court rules on the case.
