Luxury watches stolen from Osaka shop

Several watches have been stolen from a luxury brand shop in Osaka City, western Japan.

A security firm alerted police after a device detected a problem at the retailer in the Minami entertainment district around 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found that a showcase had been broken and about 20 luxury watches, worth a total of at least around 131,000 dollars, were gone.

An in-store surveillance camera captured a person wearing a head lamp smashing the showcase, swiftly taking some items from the case and putting them into a bag before fleeing.

Police say a similar theft occurred at another high-end shop nearby earlier this month. Luxury items worth 114,000 dollars were stolen in that incident.
