Japan's Kagiyama tops in figure skating in France

Japanese figure skater Kagiyama Yuma has won his second Grand Prix series gold this season.

The 18-year-old was placed at the top following the short program at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble.

Men's and women's free skating events took place on Saturday.

Kagiyama jumped a quadruple Salchow at the beginning of his performance which was followed by a triple Lutz that he changed from a quadruple loop.

Judges gave him a high score for a grade of execution for his combination jump starting with a quadruple toe loop.

He scored 185.77 despite some mistakes in jumps in the latter half.
Kagiyama's total score was 286.41.

His victory combined with winning the top spot in the event in Italy secured him a place at the Grand Prix final which will begin on December 9 in Osaka, Japan.

Another Japanese skater Sato Shun placed second.

In Women's program, Anna Shcherbakova from Russia won the gold.

Two other skaters from Japan, Higuchi Wakaba placed third and Yokoi Yuhana finished in 9th place.
