Japan: Joint news conference 'inappropriate'

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu told reporters on Thursday that it is important for Japan, the United States and South Korea to maintain unity for regional peace and stability.

Referring to the cancellation of the trilateral news conference, Matsuno said Japan is strongly protesting against South Korea over the latest development regarding Takeshima, which is totally unacceptable from Japan's standpoint.

He said Tokyo judged it would be inappropriate to hold a joint news conference under the current circumstances.
