Japan's former princess and husband arrive in US

Japan's former Princess Mako and Komuro Kei have arrived in the United States, where the newlyweds plan to start a new life.

They flew from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York State on Sunday, arriving at around 9 a.m. local time.

Escorted by security guards, the couple bowed to reporters before leaving the airport.

Mako and Komuro registered their marriage on October 26.

Sources say they will rent an apartment in New York and are considering becoming a working couple.

Komuro works at a law firm in New York. He failed the state's bar exam earlier this year but plans to take it again in February.
