Autumn foliage peaks at Okutsukei Valley, Okayama

Maple and other trees have turned brilliant shades of red and yellow at Okutsukei Valley in Okayama Prefecture, western Japan, known for its beautiful autumn foliage.

Located at an altitude of 380 meters, the valley runs along the Yoshii River. It is designated a national scenic spot.

This year, the leaves began changing colors from late October, as normal. The autumn colors of trees in a park near the Otsuri Bridge are at their best.

Visitors were enjoying the fall season, walking on paths surrounded by the autumn foliage and taking photos.

An annual event taking place around this time of the year has been canceled for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus. But the trees will be lit up every evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. through November 14.

The autumn colors at Okutsukei Valley can be seen through mid-November.
