Tokyo reports 77 new COVID cases, 10 deaths

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed 77 new cases of coronavirus infection in the capital on Tuesday.

The figure is down 67 from a week before, and the lowest for a Tuesday so far this year.

The daily tally has been below 100 for four days in a row.

The seven-day average through Tuesday is 99.7, below 100 for the first time in about 15 months.

Tokyo officials say 55 patients are in serious condition, seven fewer than on Monday.

They say 10 people died.
