Test events for next year's Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics kicked off on Friday with an international skating competition in the Chinese capital.
Athletes from China, South Korea and the Netherlands are taking part in the three-day meet.
Anti-coronavirus measures planned for the Games are in place. All participants require COVID-19 vaccination, and they must also stay in a so-called bubble. A similar practice was adopted at this year's Tokyo Games.
Interviews with the competitors are being conducted online. A Dutch athlete said he felt that the measures were thorough.
The Beijing organizing committee plans to hold 10 test events this year. More than 2,000 athletes and staff from overseas are expected to take part.
The Beijing Olympics and Paralympics are scheduled for February and March next year. They will take place in the Chinese capital, plus the city of Zhangjiakou in neighboring Hebei Province.
