Google targets climate change denial on YouTube

Google executives are set to ban ads that deny climate change from running alongside YouTube videos.
They say they'll also block ads for videos that promote hoaxes about the topic, effectively demonetizing them.

Google officials say the policy will take effect in November. They say it's a response to concerns from both advertisers and content creators about the spread of false claims on YouTube.

The officials say they'll use AI to reject ads and identify videos that contradict the scientific consensus on climate change. The policy will not apply to simply discussing or reporting on false claims.

Other social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook are also cracking down on the spread of misinformation.
