Organizers of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games plan to hold 10 test events this year at competition venues with the participation of foreign athletes and staff.
Officials of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee on Monday said the international test events will start with speed skating on October 8. The tests will also include figure skating and ski competitions.
Officials said the test events will be the first held with foreign athletes and staff. More than 2,000 people from Japan, South Korea, the US and Europe are expected to take part in the competitions and related events.
Foreign participants must have had a COVID-19 vaccination and on arrival in China stay in a "bubble" to avoid social contact, in line with a similar practice adopted at the recent Tokyo Summer Games.
Yao Hui, director of venue management, said anti-infection measures are the most important factor.
The official said the organizers will check for shortfalls and loopholes, address weak points and improve management capacity.
The Beijing Olympics and Paralympics will take place in February and March next year in the Chinese capital and in the city of Zhangjiakou in neighboring Hebei Province.
