NTT Group targets carbon neutrality by FY2040

Japanese telecom giant NTT Group says it plans to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by fiscal 2040.

The pillar of the plan is to transform its information processing infrastructure, installing proprietary next-generation optical technology in its data centers and base stations, and using it for telecom equipment.
NTT says the new technology can slash electricity consumption by 99 percent, and will account for 45 percent of its sustainability target.
The company also plans to increase its use of solar and wind power generation.
