Japanese wheelchair tennis player Kunieda Shingo has won his 8th US Open title, following his victory at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
Kunieda faced off against Britain's Alfie Hewett in the men's singles final on Sunday in New York.
Kunieda delivered powerful shots left and right to win the first set 6-1 and the second 6-4, defending his US Open title in straight sets. The victory is Kunieda's 25th singles title in Grand Slam events.
In the women's singles final of the US Open wheelchair competition, Japan's Kamiji Yui lost to top-ranked Diede de Groot from Holland 3-6, 2-6.
The Dutch player had also won gold at the Paralympic Games by defeating Kamiji in the final.
De Groot has achieved a "Golden Slam" by winning all four Grand Slam championships of this year and the Paralympics.
