A World Cup qualifier match between Brazil and Argentina has been suspended minutes after kickoff due to a dispute over coronavirus regulations.
The South American soccer qualifier was taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday. The World Cup is scheduled to be held in Qatar next year.
Brazilian health officials say four Argentinian players falsified their COVID-19 information. Brazil requires people traveling from Britain to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. The four players from the English Premier League allegedly failed to report that they had recently been in England.
Players including Argentina's Lionel Messi and Brazil's Neymar protested the decision by Brazilian health authorities, but the match did not resume.
The South American Football Confederation says the world governing body, FIFA, will decide what steps to take after hearing from the parties concerned.
