UAE accepts Afghanistan's Ghani, family

The United Arab Emirates says it has welcomed ousted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds.

Wednesday's statement by the UAE foreign ministry was reported on state-run media. The ministry did not comment on Ghani's health condition or say when he and his family arrived in the country.

Ghani reportedly fled Afghanistan as Taliban fighters entered the capital, Kabul, on Sunday.
