Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will travel into space on a rocket built by his aerospace company.
Bezos wrote on Instagram that he will make the trip on July 20. He wrote that he invited his brother to go with him.
This will be the first manned space launch for his company, Blue Origin, which he founded in 2000.
The rocket that will carry Bezos is named after Alan Shepard, the first American to travel into space. It can accommodate up to 6 passengers on flights that last 11 minutes. It will reach an altitude of about 100 kilometers.
A seat on the first manned flight will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The bidding has already reached more than 3 million dollars.
Billionaires Elon Musk and Richard Branson have also poured money into rocket startups. But Bezos will be the first to fly into space.
