Japan's minister for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics says it would be difficult to postpone this summer's Games, citing problems with securing venues and accommodations.
Marukawa Tamayo was speaking at a regular news conference on Tuesday.
She made the remark when asked about a British newspaper report saying that some sponsors of the Games have privately proposed delaying the Games until September or October.
Marukawa replied that the organizers of the Tokyo Games say they have not heard about such a proposal.
She went on to say that she believes a postponement would be very difficult.
The minister explained that arrangements are already underway for training camps and other programs, and it would be difficult to secure venues and accommodations after a schedule change.
