Tokyo police have arrested two former employees of an IT firm on suspicion of misconduct involving losses of more than 6 million dollars.
Muta Tomohide and Sasaki Shuji used to work at Tokyo-based Net One Systems.
Muta allegedly asked sales personnel of the company's business partners to send invoices under false pretext and defrauding his employer, back in 2014.
The misconduct was carried out in connection with computer systems development for government offices.
Sasaki is suspected of breach of trust, having business partners order products that were unnecessary for business and having his employer pay for them in 2019.
The two suspects worked as a superior and a subordinate, but police believe that they engaged in their wrongdoings separately.
Investigators also suspect the two men spent the money that they gained illicitly for entertainment and real estate investment.
