Japan sends 1.2 mil. vaccine doses to Taiwan

Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu says Japan is supplying more than one million doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Taiwan.

Motegi said at a news conference on Friday that 1.24 million doses of the vaccine will be provided free of charge through the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association.

He said the vaccine will arrive in Taiwan on Friday. He said Japan remembers that people in Taiwan made generous donations after Japan was hit by a major earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

Motegi said Japan sends the vaccine in honor of its friendship and valuable partnership with Taiwan.
