Movie theaters in Tokyo are making preparations to reopen next month when the metropolitan government will ease coronavirus restrictions.
The state of emergency in Tokyo will be extended for three weeks on June 1, but some restrictions will be eased.
Movie theaters will not be urged to shut down, but close by 9 p.m.
The staff at one theater, Cinema House Otsuka in central Tokyo, are busy preparing for the reopening on Tuesday.
They tied plastic twine to about half of the seats to show that they are not available. The measure is to maintain distance between people.
The theater also hosts small events. Visitors will be asked to not shake hands.
The manager of the theater says he is glad he can finally show many films that have been kept in storage since last year.
