Japan's jobless rate rose in April

Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in April came in at 2.8 percent. That's up 0.2 of a point from a month earlier.

The internal affairs ministry says it was the 4th consecutive month for the rate to stay below 3 percent.

The figure had remained above that level from August to December.

Ministry officials say the coronavirus continues to impact the labor market and it remains difficult to tell if it's on a recovery path.
