A transit worker has fatally shot eight people in the US state of California.
Police say the shooting occurred on Wednesday morning at a San Jose railyard, where dozens of workers had reportedly gathered for a union meeting.
They say the suspect, an employee of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, killed at least eight people before taking his own life.
Local media reports say the man had also set fire to his house.
Police are trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
San Jose is in the heart of Silicon Valley, where many IT businesses are based.
The attack is the latest in a recent spate of gun-related crimes in the United States, where social activity is returning to normal as the coronavirus situation improves.
President Joe Biden reiterated the need for tighter gun-control laws in a statement.
Biden said he would urge Congress to act immediately to "help end this epidemic of gun violence in America."
