Tokio Marine Holdings draws up carbon-free plan

Japan's biggest non-life insurer, Tokio Marine Holdings, has come up with a plan to help achieve a carbon-free society.

NHK has learned that the company aims to get all electricity used at its facilities worldwide from renewable sources by fiscal 2030.

It also intends to switch all of its vehicles in Japan to electric or plug-in hybrid models by the same year.

Tokio Marine has operations in 46 countries and territories.

It says it wants to reduce CO2 emissions by 60 percent in fiscal 2030 compared with the levels of fiscal 2015.
