China-N.Korea trade falls away

Chinese customs authorities report that trade with North Korea has almost ground to a halt.

It's believed the North is maintaining the closure of its border in response to the coronavirus.

Bilateral trade in January and February was valued at 3.27 million dollars. That's down 98.4 percent from the same period last year.

Some analysts believe North Korea may be obtaining goods through trade that does not appear in official records.

A United Nations Security Council panel has highlighted a possibility that Chinese businesses are involved in Pyongyang's sanctions violations.
