Pence to attend Biden's inauguration

US media say Vice President Mike Pence is planning to attend the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden on January 20th.

Outgoing presidents have historically attended inaugurations to congratulate their successors. But President Donald Trump said on Friday that he will not attend Biden's inauguration.

Pence rejected Trump's demand not to certify Biden's victory, saying he had no such authority.

Biden said on Friday that Pence would be welcome to attend his inauguration, and called Trump "an embarrassment to the country."

Trump has been criticized by members of his own administration and the Republican Party over his handling of the incident in which his supporters stormed the legislative building.
