Data: Indonesian plane made sharp descent

A global flight tracking service says an Indonesian airliner that went out of contact made a steep descent minutes into its flight from Jakarta.

Flightradar24 says the Sriwijaya Air plane climbed to a maximum altitude of more than 3,300 meters about four minutes after taking off at 2:36 p.m. Saturday, local time.

It says the last data received from the aircraft about 20 seconds later show it had plunged to an altitude of about 70 meters.
