An Indonesian aircraft went out of contact shortly after taking off from Jakarta on a domestic flight on Saturday. Officials say suspected debris has been found in the sea.
The Sriwijaya Air plane was bound for Pontianak in West Kalimantan Province. Transport officials say 62 people were on board, including 12 crew.
Officials say the Boeing 737-500 took off from the capital at 2:36 p.m. local time. They add that the plane veered off course about four minutes later and went out of contact over the ocean.
The country's search and rescue agency says it has recovered what may be parts of the aircraft in waters close to where it went missing. A search operation is ongoing.
