US President-elect Joe Biden is finalizing his cabinet lineup ahead of his inauguration on January 20.
Biden announced additional members of his economic team on Thursday.
He nominated Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo as commerce secretary.
Raimondo has promoted investment in infrastructure and development of smaller firms as head of the eastern state.
As commerce secretary, she is expected to play a key role in strengthening US competitiveness in the high-tech sector, amid fierce rivalry with China.
Biden also chose Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to lead the Labor Department.
Walsh is a former labor union leader. He's expected to lead efforts to improve employment, which has been battered by the coronavirus pandemic.
Cabinet nominees must be confirmed by the Senate. Biden got a boost from the recent Georgia runoff elections, which effectively gave the Democrats control of the chamber.
