Japan reports over 7,000 coronavirus cases Thurs.

Japan confirmed more than 7,000 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, exceeding the mark for the first time.

Officials said the daily count stood at 7,490 as of 6:30 p.m.

They also reported that 38 people died of COVID-19.

By prefecture, eight people died in Saitama, four in Kanagawa, three in Kyoto, Chiba, Hiroshima and Kumamoto, two in Hyogo, Hokkaido, Fukuoka and Shizuoka, and one in Oita, Gifu, Ishikawa, Fukushima, Gunma and Nagasaki.
